Anyone see the guy in the shooting competition that shot the wrong target? Man, I felt sorry for that guy. All he had to do was hit the target for Gold then he shot the wrong one and fell to something like 8th. Poor guy...

To me the Olympics is amazing. Years of work and you can lose by one simple mistake or a millisecond.

On the topic of the Olympics I actually found myself routing against the US baskettball team in the 2nd loss. Call it unpatriotic if you wish, but as a baskettball fan I think many in the NBA have lost focus. It's too much about the "bling" and the dunk contests when it should be more about the fundamentals and the outside shooting. I hope this type of play wakes em up.

Sorry for the 2nd post...

stupid 10 min rule...

I'd say shooting the wrong target is a MAJOR boo boo.

So far as ball goes, the athletes have outgrown the game. Ball was invented for short white guys. Now, the courts are too small, the baskets are too low, the boards and rims and balls are too soft, you don't have to dribble and if a defendor gets with 20 feet you you you can fall down like you've been shot and go to the charity stripe. There's a lot to hate about the NBA. If fact, ball is more like the WWE or WWF than ball. Here's a golf analogy. Call all the pars 3s par 5s, then make the cup as big as a manhole. See what I mean?

:D

They should use those tricky oval-shaped hoops like they use at the fair! They'd be hard pressed even to slam dunk thru those narrow suckers!

And the Lakers lose a tight one to the Celtics tonight, 24-23, even tho Kobe shot a blistering 18% from the field!

;)

LOL, I'm all for those fair hoops too. Why do they call it the fair when all the games are so unfair?

I work w/ a guy that does a lot of competitive shooting. Shooting the wrong target happens from time to time, even in the national events. I would've guessed by the time one reaches Olympic status, they'd be able to identify their target. Oh well, live and learn.

Later,

Steve.
