I blew the up pipe going to the throttle body off...again. I was doing a burnout at about 10 pounds boost and.....POP! It has happened to me on my other TR once in two years, I've only had my new car about a month and it has happened twice already. After the first time I made sure the rubber sleeve holding it together was secure and now it happened again.

Who, what, when, where, why did this happen?
How can I make sure it doesn't happen again?

get some good clamps, not the garden variety hardware store ones. clean the mounting surface and the inside of the hose well. make sure the IC (stock location, that is) is mounted well so there isn't excessive motion to "work it loose". stop doing smokey burnouts at 10 lbs, Luke.

A little blast of hairspray on the inside of the hose will do 2 things for you....make it easier to slip the hose over the TB and up pipe. and it'll 'glue' the hose where you leave it when it dries. If your d/s motor mount is hooped the whole assembly could be rocking up and hitting the underside of the hood, thus knocking off the pipe as well.

Not only make sure you have the good high-pressure clamps, but make sure you get the good hoses that are thicker and longer. It's all about girth, man. :D I can't even get my hoses off without someone else's help half the time! That's security baby! ;)

You need "Constant Torque Hose Clamps" if the clamp is your only problem.

Contact McMaster-Carr web page (there are other suppliers also).

Check your size required, but here are some examples:

#5281K19, 2 1/4" to 3 1/8", ~ $3.50/ea
#5281K21, 2 3/4" to 3 5/8", ~ $3.55/ea
