Opinions on my intercooler

I'm wondering if this relic is holding me back. It was part of i deal i fell into long ago...dont know who made it. I am running around 28-30Lbs. I have no clue regarding IAT. Thanks

That looks like a EARLY ATR ... no its not holding you back .. but that scoop might be .. that's actually a very good intercooler.. uses spearco cores

No goals..just want it to be as good as it can. Is it a choke point? does it,will it limit the effectiveness of a 500 HP engine.... Being so old is it a inferior design? My engine appreciates cold air too

No .. the spearco cores are very good ... just make sure the air hitting the intercooler gets contained so it actually goes through the cores.. that same intercooler you have is good for over 750 hp

thanks...thats good news...the idea with the scope was to direct some air to trans cooler and radiator...i can see how it may disrupt flow thru the intercoler though.

thanks .. i researched around...that cooler appears to be about 25 years old...ive never seen one either.

That is not an intercooler from Kenne Bell. I bought my intercooler from them in 1998 and it still works/looks as good as the day i put it on. And i've used it with TE52,TE54,GT67,TE70 turbos and the performance has always been great.

I remember Cartech had one similar to that design also and there are replicas being sold on ebay.

So it would be just a guess of who it was made by without knowing the person who actually purchased it,only they know for sure or the manufacture of it.

Cartech and ATR = NO DIFFERENCE .. both used spearco cores

That is a solid intercooler .. I would NOT change it for todays ebay crap

To the OP .... leave what you have .. its a really good intercooler .. ATR did not put out crap ! That intercooler you have 3 core ( spearco ) has run in the 150's on a 3400 pound mustang ... trust me it's a great intercooler .. leave it and look elsewhere for power.

Hell I know a few ls1 turbo guys
In the 10's with the same cooler

But anyway the cooler u have is fine
