I'm getting tired of reprogramming chips every time I make a change to my motor combination. I'd like to upgrade to a FAST DFI but they're too expensive. Max Effort seems to be an inexpensive alternative to DFI. What are the likes and dislikes to those using a ME? Do you feel like you've given up some driveability without the 02 sensor? Is it difficult to make adjustments? Do I need anything else to tune with a ME? Even if you don't have one, what is your opinion on it? Thanks

I wouldn't play with the defaults without Direct Scan and an EGT meter. Wideband O2 wouldn't hurt either.

It is usually pretty close to perfect the way he sends it to ya.

Didn't give up any drivability with it. Works great with my Bosch greentop injectors even.

Steve's wanted to update it for a year now but no real urgent need to do so it's that good.

Use mine with the translator + and 3 1/2" MAF too.

Excellent customer support and perhaps the best out of all the Buick vendors. Until he pays me I can't say that however. ;)

Great chip even better if you run race gas a lot don't need the O2 sensor.

I don't run race gas and use it almost daily on the street. Default settings with fuel on F where my car likes it. Timing 20* with alky. injection.

If you change injectors you may/may not have to have it programmed again. If you jump from say 50's to 72's you will have to send it back for an update. Other than that it is hands down the best setup going.

You won't be disappointed!!! Get an EGT meter though. FYI I mounted dual probes, one on the DS header and one on the DP, I was shocked to see how much differance between the two! Mount the probe as close to the cylinder head as you can.

Ugh, yep.
If you want to run 2 they both need to be pre turbo.
The turbo is using exhaust gas energy to spin the wheel, so there is a large temp change across it.

I have been holding out to see how the ME will work out without the MAF. I know some have been testing this for Steve. Does anyone have any feed back on the ME that does not require the MAF?

Well he wants to update mine but I won't let him. :)

Going racing in a few weeks and I don't want to mess up my tune.

Prolly do it over the winter sometime.

Not sure what it will mean replacing the translator + and big MAF.

I like the timing adjustments and all....

I'm still testing it. It is really user friendly just like the regular ME. You NEED scanmaster, DS or TL, and (I just got) an EGT meter. My car seems to be differant then everyone elses (what a shock) Like J banning says, tech support is outstanding. It's a blast, if you like tuning.;)

Russ, Can you elaborate a little more on the ME without the MAF? Fuel mileage, cold start up, overall performance, etc. I would like to run a set up like this.

I ran a 10.25 with a ME and 83's. Steve is of the best people to deal with in the Buick world.

I had DFI (but my brother wanted it) and it was great! IMO the ME doesn't take a back seat to DFI, it's also excellent, except way less expensive. Steve is a good guy, he takes care of his people. I only make minor changes (Idle and start) when the seasons change.

My mileage doubled! cold start you can adjust what ever you want, it's real easy. I can't tell the performance yet on the track as I have yet to go (next month)
