Stopped in to get some posi additive and u-joint straps for a V8 Vega I am putting a posi and some 3.42's into. The guys all started talking about the GN. One customer started talking all loud saying "I remember when those came out new in '88. I had a new Hurst/Olds and one of them GN's whooped up my ass real good." I had to turn around and tell him the black cars started in 84 and ended in 87. He says that the 84-87 cars were T Types and NOT Grand Nationals. He noticed my Totota uniform and thought I was dumb or something because he kept spewing his knowledge to them. They kind of ignored him and started asking me about my car and asked me all sorts of questions about the TB's. I also told him the Hurst/Olds were 83 & 84 for the Gbody ones and he swore his was new in '88. He also knows for a fact that the Trans Am never had the 3.8 Turbo. I told him to google the 89 TTA and see what was up.

LOL I deal with this on a regular basis Eric. You wouldn't believe how ignorant the public really is. The legend lives on as well as the stupidity. LOL

Bah that's nothing. I had one guy working at BlowReilly's tell me that my GN had a 307 in it :eek::eek:

Hey Will, what's your 60 foot time again?
I need some help with my launch technique.
J/K.

Yeah, depends on where you go but I drive my WE4 daily and always get "harassed" about it. I dont even correct people anymore when they ask about my "GN". I have respect for people who ask only what year it is vs the people that want to tell me all about my car. LOL

The IC pipe blew off right before I hit the 60 ft mark, so the 60ft wasn't too bad. Hell, I was even going 48 in the 1/8th but somehow only trapped 41 out the back door. I think Noble's track goes uphill :D

welcome to Las Cruces..... or Lost Causes as I like to say....

everybody who works behind the autoparts store counter is a mechanical genius in this town.

sad part is I could never get hired at any of them.

And if you did get hired you won't be paid what you're worth. Believe me, I know.

Actually the customer was the mechanical genius. The parts guys were asking questions and the customer was spewing gloom, dispare and agony.

Well my reputation is secure in my town now. My ignition switch went out today and one of my customers towed me over to his house and let me work on it there. Even gave me a bottle of water and kept checking on me until I was sure it was the ig switch. After I called a friend and ordered the part I had to go over to another customers house and finish the car I started yesterday and finish it. My car is alive again and the customer is happy and I owe Tony a big thanks for his help so I'll give him a discount any time he comes in now. No questions asked.
