Outside Diameter of Speedometer Casing?

I'm about to embark on a little project & need some help obtaining some information.
Can anyone tell me what the OD is of the Steward Warner or VDO Mechanical Speedometer casing used in a GNX dash assembly ?

Is it 3 1/8" or 3 3/8"?

I just measured a spare speedo casing and am getting closer to 3 1/4" for the OD (for the opening of the case body, not including the outer edge of the face of course). So it's probably safe to say it's NOT 3 1/8".

the avc clusters used the 3 3/8 vdo cockpit gauges
the gnx stewart was 3 3/8 and this is the speedo gauge i used to replace a damaged one

the measurement listed when buying gauges is the gauge panel opening not the actual gauge
