Overdrive and TCC Solenoid?

Can a bad tcc solenoid cause a car not to shift into overdrive? If not, then what would cause it? Thanks, R.B.
 
i believe the tcc solenoid only controls the TCC lockup funtion...shouldn't have anything to do with OD shifting...
 
That's correct.

No OD shift could be too much TV pressure due to overzealous TV cable adjustment, mis-matched valve body & governor, sticking 3-4 shift valve assembly or burnt OD clutches.

More specific information regarding your problem would aid in the diagnosis. Does the transmission have high mileage or was it recently overhauled? If rebuilt, did OD suddenly go away or did it ever have OD? Do the governor and valve body match? Etc.
 
Then it was going into OD it just wasn't locking the convertor.
