P/L cutting on & off

Gentlemen,
My P/L seems to be losing connection? Have not used it for several months and when hooked up to the same windows 7 lap that I have used before I get " the usb device is malfunctioning" then after a few off / ons and re-connects it will work but on the test runs it will cut off and stop working. Any thoughts???? Newer version and car is kept indoors HELP ...................... Thanks in advance for any ideas or advice..............

that is a windows/computer error. Not sure what exactly would cause that, but I would look for mechanical damage to the connector on the PL, and the cable.
