P/N switch wires

Hi People!!

I have a new P/N switch and I have a few questions about it. It is a Borg-Warner S9186 and it has 5 "blades" on it. The one in the GN has 4 blades. It looks like there is an extra one on the new switch that is way off to the right (looking at the blade side) where 1st gear would be.

Q: Those who have changed these, is the new one I have the right one? Is there a differnece in the tilt/non-tilt columns?

Q: Does this last blade matter?

Q: Since it has been out for a while, when I install it, the blade side shoud face the firewall?

This ain't much help but I bought one at NAPA and it had the extra blade thingy on it.However I didn't need end up needing it so I never installed it.

The switch is the same for both columns. This switch is used on just about every GM model out there. The extra terminal is for the automatic door lock feature found on the full size luxury models. Your switch should work fine. Terminals face towards the driver. I think it will only bolt on one way.
