Hey guys, I am building an iron gate and fence at my new house and was looking for suggestions on what kind of paint to use. I want to spray it after it is sandblasted. I am thinking about some kind of epoxy paint in a satin black. any suggestions?

if you have a tractor supply company close by. then get some tractor and implement paint for about 45$ a gallon. comes in many colors and is pretty tough oil paint. i've used it to paint work trucks.

yeah we have TSC here. I looked at that paint when i was in there last. Is that paint sprayable as is or does it need a reducer? I dont want something that is going to get chalky over time. Maybe I should paint it Kubota orange or John Deere green!! just kidding. If I remember right it was Valspar paint.

use omni paint. just messing with you.

my neighbor mixed it, i believe he just did the paint an small enamal hardner. only to find out that he couldn't spray, so i got woke up at dawn to help him, and ended up spraying his whole truck before i even had coffee. i used a 1.8mm tip primer gun. it did have alot of orange peel, but i layed it on in one thick coat.

i've used the low gloss and the high gloss black , my trunck , and core support , inner fenders on the gn are done in low gloss black. i've only seen the results for a year now, but so far so good.

i know a resto shop the uses it for frames.

Look up "Hammerite" by Sherwin Williams, I've used the hammered texture outdoors and it's very durable.

Just an idea. You could have it powdercoated that way you will never have to mess with it again.

The powder coat option is going to be very expensive with what I have to coat. I would love to have it coated but paint is a fraction of the price.

Over the years, I've seen some fences that were painted with "Tremclad" aluminium paint and it looked real nice. It's available in other colors besides aluminium and can be applied either with a brush or sprayed...Hope this helps...

I thought about it for about .....zero seconds!! Their black base coat dyed back on me. Looks brown in certain light

do you know why it did that? i do there clear has a yellow tint to it. thats why its so hard to color match there stuff.

Most clears have a yellow tint. The Europeans use a blue tint that is why there wheels and stuff look better.IMOP

Satin black Charcoal Grill paint in a rattle can. Called BBQ Black.
