Wondering if anyone here either paints or knows a good reasonable paint shop in the philadelphia area. Not looking for show quality at all, this is a daily driver. Only the roof, hood, and trunk need to be stripped i was told, the rest can be sealed and painted as is. any help at all would be greatly appreciated
thank you
shawn

I don't know any in Philly but in 2 weeks I'll be stripping and priming mine and this guy in West Chester who works by himself is going to spray the paint for me for $500. It's a lot cheaper then a body shop. He will let you buy all the supplies and he will do the work for you. If you want his # let me know.

yea, let me have his number. btw, what are you using to strip the car yourself?

Just to be clear its a 442 not a GN but close enough for this purpose. My paint is completely wasted not sure how bad yours is but I will be using Aircraft remover and 80 grit da discs to strip the car to the metal.

His name is Glen 484-995-3315. Call him and see what he says. He is a really nice guy and has helped me a lot.

My painter can do it if you would like, he is located off I95 10-15 min from the philly airport. I will get his # and e-mail it to you he would have to see the car to get you a price.

I found a guy in Bucks county who will media blast the car to bare metal for about 6 to 7 hundred dollars, he said it will take a day or two, (depends on workload). sound like a good deal to me, but I am not a body man, I could find his number if anyone wants, just email me, he is near Willow Grove Pa..

Wow is that how much that stuff costs? Thats crazy IMO I'll just sand it bare and work my arse off.

No need to work your ARSE? off. You can buy stripper at your friendly walmart for $12 a gallon. With a little bit of determination, some coarse steel wool, razor blade scrapers, lacquer thinner, rags, and at most, couple of gallons of stripper, you can do the whole car yourself.

I sent out a couple hoods to be media blasted a few years back. NEVER AGAIN! If you like warped panels, you'll really like media blasting.

I bought some aircraft remover and I will be trying that out but that was $10 a quart. What kind of stripper you get from walmart for $12 a gallon?

I seem to always have a problem with aircraft strippers, How do you keep it from getting the rust flashover after you wash it off (or maybe I should'nt wash it) let me know plz

Oh wow how soon did you see the rust? I think after you wash it down and then wipe the car with laquer thinner. you should wipe it down with some phosphoric acid metal prep like metal ready from por-15. That will convert it so it doesn't rust.
