Hi all , using a generic 2004R , I want to upgrade to a stock GN servo for 2nd gear ,they gotta be larger than whats in mine ,when I order one from what year GN and whats the largest stock one to use ?? Is there a stamping # on the servo or cover like the Vette ones for the 700R4`s ,, I`ve blocked my 1-2 accumulator and want to do the servo next ,, thanks Bill,,

I believe there is a TH200 that is preferred by Chris at CK. It is the largest with an actual GM part number but is usually procured at a 'recycler'.

PTS, CK, and Sonax have larger after market units that are larger than any of the GM(Hydramatic) parts.

Are you using one of the HP valve bodies? I am made to understand that not using one can affect shift quality.

Rich

You can get excellent shift quality from any VB.
The GN servo with a 694 cover is the largest stock 200-4R.
The TH200 servos will work but they are hard to find.

I have stock GN servos if you need one.

servo

thanks guys the 694 answered my question , this is for my daily driver ( 88 S10 pickup + V8 ) and I`m only running about 225 Hp at the flywheel , I have a shift kit in it & the 1-2 mod ,I checked out a Sonax Super Servo here ( Canada ) but I refuse to pay $ 389.99 for it ,I think that large of a servo would be overkill for me anyway , the only other one that I liked here was made by Shift Technologies ( Superior ) and it is $ 114.00 here ,my tranny shifts good so I just want that little extra bump in the 1-2 & 2-3 shift , Jakeshoe out of curiosity what would you want for a stock 694 , with the 694 will I need to get a piston to match & pin or could I use my stock one ?? I think the shipping to Canada would be ridiculas in pricing but mayby not ,, thanks again Bill..

bill..
Arghh Canada shipping.
it's not really expensive but it takes me an hour + to do all the paperwork here.

The servo would be $60, it has a piston, new seals, etc, you just use your pin.
Shipping would probably be $20-25.

Do this,
Check with CKperformance's Canadian supplier. I think it is on his website. They may have one in stock.

The Superior servo is a decent piece. Not as big as the Sonnax but fine for your application.

If you can't find anything let me know.

Hi ,, Jakeshoe found this billet super servo at a performance shop next province over from me , they mill them right in their shop ,, $ 95.46 canadian for me with free shipping to my door ,, my ? is will I have to get another piston & pin & spring to match this one as it doesn`t come with either of those 3 parts ? Can I use my stock piston and pin with it ,, it`s a really good price for out here ,, but if I gotta spend 10-50 bucks for a piston setup I wouldn`t buy it ,,thanks Bill ,, It comes with new seals ,,

I'll start a new thread for this subject.

Hi TexasT I am using a 2004R out of a 1983 Olds that had a diesel engine in front of it ,pretty much a no name valve body ,I believe it was a OM code , anyways I changed out the line bias spring ,the presure reg. spring ,drilled out 3 spots in the separater plate , when I`m into the WOT it shifts out of 1rst at 4800 Rpm now ,, before it would shift at 3000 Rpm ,, I was after gas milage in my truck and the tranny now shifts as par what I wanted other than I want to get a very distinctive firm shift next thus I am going to be putting in a different servo next ,, Bill

Hey Jake, I'm curious, because when I buy stuff on ebay, some sellers moan about the 'paperwork' too. I'm just curious as to what you have to do. I have shipped stuff to the US a fair bit, and the only extra step is to write on the form: what it is, how much, weight, where it was made and if it is a gift or not. It literally takes less than 10 seconds. What are you guys having to do that it takes an hour or more?

You have to fill out a Statement of Origin form, another certificate, and find the classification numbers and the site is a PITA to navigate.

Plus all the normal shipping stuff.

If you did it daily and had a good resource reference to know the classification numbers it might not be so bad.

I usually use UPS and it is just a PITA on theirs and the Fedex site to navigate.
It helps though because the forms are mostly automated.

Plus the brokerage stuff. I shipped a 4L80 up that way a couple of months ago and that was a hassle. Customer paid the brokerage but I had to have a broker setup before hand. So it was a lot of delays and back and forth trying to sort it out.

They work great :)

I've used several now.
I don't think you could get a bigger apply area.

Hi once again Jakeshoe , yesterday my truck was taken in and they pulled the valvebody and accumulator , the checkballs were all put back in and the 1-2 accumulator was blocked off as I requested , put all back together ,feels like a totally different tranny now and am happy with it ,not going to put a servo in now until spring time , so I won`t need one of your GN servo`s ,, thanks for all your help Bill..
