You may have seen my earlier thread about the tranny letting go. I didn't get much response so I will try it this way. My car runs 13.50s but will ultimately be a low 12 high 11 car (Someday) so I want to have the tranny built to accommodate future mods. What parts are necessary to strengthen the tranny? I've heard alot about billet servos, hardened drums, and heavier wider bands. I have picked out a local shop to do the work and will get a list of his parts included in the rebuild and I plan on buying what his rebuild kit lacks performance wise. I am lost when it comes to tranny work so if anyone has some suggestions, well TIA

ZR1TR,

Go to the top of the page in this section and read the 2004R Built tips.
It is the best most complete article avaiable.

In short,
I just built one for myself and one for my dad's ride.

I would use:
Chromoly pump rings
HD band anchor
Billet Forward drum,
Alto red clutches in the direct drum,
Alto HD band
GN or Billet servo
TransGo Reprogramming kit which includes bigger boost valves.

Possibly dual feed the direct clutches, but only if you have the billet forward drum.

Use an additional clutch in the Overdrive clutches, reds are good here too.

Other than that a good rebuild should about do it.

Good luck
