long story short version
Purchased a new Asus Q400A laptop with Windows 8

I just purchased a new hard drive for the same laptop in order to load windows 7

Windows 7 is loaded and working but some of the hardware is still giving me problems
I can't find the drivers on the Asus site or on the windows 7 disc

Sometimes there are no drivers for an older OS, just the way it is. Some stuff may work marginally or with limited functionality. I ran into this trying to use XP on a new Toshiba laptop that's (now) 4 years old...

Another link on someone else's successful journey on putting Windows 7 onto a Q400A

this link fixed my wireless connection. THANK YOU

The Ethernet is still out and i still have the other two issues.

I did read that even though i am getting a usb issue notice - the usb will still work perfectly. and as of right now i do have a usb wireless mouse connected and it is working just fine, I was also using a usb wireless network card to get on the NET. So i am not too worried about the usb at this point, i am going to load the PL and hope that works as that was the soul purpose for me buying this laptop. if that works then i will not worry about anything else.
Thanks guys for all your help.

I'll post up the PL results later on today.

i was able to download the win 8 drivers for the Ethernet and that is working (using it right now) i still have the USB warnings but they seem to be working ?????

The PL is loaded i just need to try it, wish me luck

Good to hear that you got most of it going, thanks for updating us.

Having USB warnings and still having USB work is not that unusual. I have had that on an older computer for awhile and just learned to ignore it. The proof will be the connection to PL.
Good Luck!
