Anyone have a pic that might show the valve cover piping to the turbo inlet bell? I just moved to oregon from texas and the tree huggers up here are going to try and bend me over the table on the emissions test!!! I am going to have to put the stock inlet bell back on for the test and I am not sure which piping I took off of that area.
I think it is a pretty tough test to pass because it uses the exhaust sniffers and dyno rollers to check the car at speeds.

p.s. Scott231, I might be whinning to you for an Emissions chip in the next few months :)

Just look for a picture of the valve cover breather in one of the catalogs. When you find that, you should have the hose and clamps attached to it.

the only test you would fail is visual, not tailpipe emissions, and that's only if the service station is familiar enough with TRs to look, 'cause it's sort-of tucked out of sight

it's generally illegal to have an open valve cover breather, so on the stock setup, crankcase vapors get sucked back into the turbo & combusted.

I retained the little, black stock oil separator in the P/S valve cover to act as a breather, and capped the inlet to the turbo inlet bell. I doubt most mechanics would know.

Visual inspection will fail. You may try taking the test without it, but it is one of the items they check EVERY TIME on me, no matter where I go.

It is CAKE to change once you have the parts. I have the breather, hose, and bell mouth all attached. I keep it in a special place in the garage and use it one time every two years!

Hmm, you & I are both in Calif -- maybe the inspectors are smarter than I gave them credit for! But as you said, easy to pop on the hose.
