Since I don't have a Race car any longer. I hardly ever attend any of the events. I decided to go this time to support Guy Cunningham & the event. Left Friday AM & as soon as I arrived went to work on the white Regal to prepare it. That evening on the way to the hotel I stopped at the market to pick up some supplies. While inside the store my Z06 got the side window broken out & attempt was made to steal my radar detector that was attached to the mirror. The idiot was unable to figure out how to remove it since it was so securely mounted & snapped the mirror off. So to satisfy his lust to steal he merely got away with a cheap pair of scratched up sunglasses. The next day we arrive at the track & was tuning & mentoring Guy on how to race his car. He was very nervous & after several attempts RJ Reynolds offered to take it down the track & turned a respectable 10.82 124.58 mph. the 8th pass the car said enough & died mid track. So now I had a broken corvette & a Regal to repair & get this all done so I could leave Sunday AM for home. Guy got me a deal on a new glass for $200.00 & Tom his room mate helped me install it. Then I jumped on the Regal & found a broken cam sensor & since I identified the problem rather quickly I said to myself things were just going too smoothly. So I went to start the car & nothing it wouldn't fire. So I went into paralysis by analysis & fiddled the night away trying to figure out why. So it was already 11.00 PM & with all attempts exhausted & myself as well. Guy who didn't have a clue as to how bad I wanted to ring his neck for getting me into this by then hands me this dusty old beat up ECU that he found somewhere cheap & had the insight to keep it as a spare. So I blew out all the rat droppings, spider webs, installed it & bingo the car started. So relieved I dragged my beat up worn out tired ass back to the room & passed out. Sunday on the way home I got caught in four different traffic jams. Guy also called me & said what a great time he had & how we need to do this again. I apologize to Nick & the rest of the people I promised to meet at the restaurant but couldn't cause I just flat ran out of time. But it was good meeting some old & new friends.Talking to the legendary Dick Kearny & his crew chief. I was very impressed with their operation & level of expertise. I also want to thank Guy for the memorable entertainment. Gosh that was fun ! Lou
