Anyone have any pics of any hood vents on a TR?

I know that Kirban used to advocate using the Trans Am rectangular upper vents on his fiberglass hoods.

I had found a nice site that had hood vents, custom made in their shop, try googlen them

Is a great idea to dispel heat but most would not cut up their hoods

I'd like to see the pics as well but One other way to get the heat out of the engine bay is to remove the rubber at the back of the hood area.

maybe at low speeds, but once the car is moving there will be a high pressure area at the base of the windshield.

the hood vents....yes we used to sell them with the fiberglass hood...one of the most famous race cars around had them on their car and it even made it on the GMP diecast...I am referring to Tweaked Conleys race car...

what was nice about the vents we sold is they were narrow and actually hood vents that Pontiac used I think back around 1988-1991 vintage.... Again going by memory. I do know only reason we stopped offering them, is because we could no longer get them from GM.

Speaking of Conleys car, he also got the very first glass hood and bumpers we made way back late 1980s....when all of us were a lot younger....and some of you probably had not bought your turbo car yet!

They were even on my personal car as I had them installed on my steel hood. My GN wen to Hawaii where it still resides today.....

I have no photos around sorry

Yes, that is the vents we used to sell when we could get them...quite popular with the fiberglass hood...probably because they looked like they belonged
there since Pontiac used it on the Trans Am or Formula hoods...vent had 2 pieces and where plastic...like most old stuff now just memories...

I kinda like the look of those. I may have to consider looking into a glass hood & vents on my car.

I removed the driver's side rubber strip. The passenger side is where the air gets sucked in from the blower motor.

xtremexnyc-That is what I was talking about. That looks really good.

I was thinking about the GNX vents, but a square look looks better I think. I saw a 90's Mustang once with the GNX vents in the hood and it looked really hot!

Dennis,

Here is the exact hood you speak of. You can still see "TWEAKED" green on the edges from lil chip/scrapes over the years.

Its not the best pic, But its all I have on this computer.
