How did I know that the toe chewer dog would live in a trailer? How in the Hell do you not hear the screams of a child who is having it's toes chewed off by a dog?

+1 and im still calling BS on the tire deflater. No good area on a tire to get any jaw leverage unless its a dirtbike tire and the pressure required to puncture a tire is most likely more than the dog can exert. Id like to see the holes. Wouldnt the cop notice the sound of the escaping air and check to see wtf is going on? BS flag is flying high

I have seen cars where dogs, some where pits supposedly had bitten through the sheet metal!

Whats up with NC and the damn pitbulls?

That's easy, most of these stories happen in the "White Trash r' Us" trailer parks and "Thug Life" neighborhoods and other, typically low income or drug income areas that are found in abundance in our lovely state. Although I usually try not to stereotype people it seems apparent to me that certain types of owners are drawn to certain breeds of dogs. Sort of a thug status symbol. I know there are a lot of people that do not fit that description who own Pits and will very zealously defend the breed, but you don't see a ganster wanna be and say, "I bet he owns a poodle."

My sister-in-law was a home health care nurse for the Health Department. She was visiting one of her paitents when the neighbor's dog (not sure of the breed) tore the bumper cover off of her Cutlass.
There was also a local story recently of a man that ran over a Pit because the dog bit his tire and got pulled under the truck while he was pulling into a driveway.

Yeah, you could almost smell the crack rot (as in the drug crack;)) coming from that place...

I don't like them either. I have been around a few pb pups latley but I have told the owners that when the pups get big and look at me wrong in my building I will cap it quick!

Yeah that is about 10 mins from my house. That is the best hospital in the entire eastern NC. If they can't help you, you have to go to UNC or Duke.

I just feel so sorry for the poor child that will never know a normal life because of this:(

Ask a vet or a hospital...a poodle is more likely to put a kid in the hospital than a pit. Statistically speaking. Just another sterotype.

I can treat ANY dog the way a game dog is treated and make it a killer.

I can treat a pitbull like a member of my family and never have a problem. The dogs are more loyal than any other dog I've owned. Mine is 70 lbs and sleeps in the bed with my child. He won't let bad guys in ...

I just don't have to worry about my wife and daughter forgetting to lock the doors when I'm gone and they are alone. He's like ADT to the tenth power.

Next time you're at a vet's office ask him what he thinks the 3 most vicious breeds of dogs are...you'll be suprised who REALLY accounts for the majority dog bites.

Believe it or not I think Dalmations were real high on the bite there owner list.
Besides all ankle biters......

.

I asked a friend of mine why all the "bangers" had these dogs. He said that alot of have records and can't carry guns. So the dogs act as there guns, ie protection... He was looking at one from the kennel that M. Vick got most of his from:eek:

They can easily chew a tire when my boy was around I couldn't leave a 2x4 in the yard because in a matter of minutes I would become tooth picks. One of my idiot cousins teased my dog while he was tied up the next day his two front tires whir SHREDDED. These dogs are nearly unstoppable and too smart.

Why did I get one?
As a kid (11years old) living in the dumps my choices whir.
1-Gun=Jail
2-knife=Jail
3-Pitt Bull=Sorry
Pitt bull it was and I am glad I went with the dog. Because even thugs with guns don't mess with you when you have a 60-90 pound Pitt by your side. They know just like every body else knows that you have one or two shots before he gets to you so you better not miss and hope you hit a vital organ.

I had my dog for a long time the key are love, training and NOT MISTREAT THEM. That simple. Also never trust any dog with any strangers. Anytime ANYONE came to the house the dog was locked up not the BS NAHHHH HE WON’T DO ANYTHING IF YOU ARE AROUND ME BS. That’s just an accident waiting to happen.

^^ That dog looks like it would tear you up

You are 100% correct.
If you point your loaded gun at your head and pulled the trigger will it kill you?
If you mistreat your Pitt Bull you will get the same results as the gun.
But my dog was trained and loved. If I raised my hand in a hitting motion he wouldn’t flinch instead he would jump at my hand to see what I was holding.

Its all in how they are raised. Take gangs for instance, they teach their kids how to be criminals, dogs are the same way. That dog does look mean as hell though, I would still probably pet it anyways . Not a bad looking dog.

My friend in West Palm Beach bought a new dodge ram and added bigger tires and wheels,He told me as he pulled into his driveway his rottweiler grabbed onto his tire and put a hole into it,I thought it was crazy and didnt think it could really happen untill I saw this post......

As far as pitts go,this has been a on-going subject on here and many other places...IMO,some are great and some are just plain crazy,I know 1 pitt that is plum nutts and was raised by the owner of a muffler shop and he has never fought it or raised it to be mean, its a house dog that cant be around anyone but him or it just attacks(I know as I had to dent its forehead one time because I didnt believe it)...But my other good friend has a pitt that looks as crazy as can be and it has never bit or showed and meaness towards people or other dogs,he is actually afraid of my chinese crested:confused: My sister had a pitt since birth till death and it never attacked or bit anyone,it was a perfect dog its whole life..

Maybe it has something to do with the mixture between the bloodline and the way its raised but who really knows?

Also his rotties used to eat threw the chain link fence to get to the female when in heat,he used to breed them, and I saw this for myself!

"Studies indicate that pit bull-type dogs were involved in approximately a third of human DBRF (i.e., dog bite related fatalities) reported during the 12-year period from 1981 through1992, and Rottweilers were responsible for about half of human DBRF reported during the 4 years from 1993 through 1996....[T]he data indicate that Rottweilers and pit bull-type dogs accounted for 67% of human DBRF in the United States between 1997 and 1998. It is extremely unlikely that they accounted for anywhere near 60% of dogs in the United States during that same period and, thus, there appears to be a breed-specific problem with fatalities." (Sacks JJ, Sinclair L, Gilchrist J, Golab GC, Lockwood R. Breeds of dogs involved in fatal human attacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998. JAVMA 2000;217:836-840.)

The Clifton study of attacks from 1982 through 2006 produced similar results. According to Clifton study, pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes were responsible for 65% of the canine homicides that occurred during a period of 24 years in the USA. (Clifton, Dog attack deaths and maimings, U.S. & Canada, September 1982 to November 13, 2006)"

"Dog bite deaths and maimings US and Canada (1982-2007)
By compiling US and Canadian press accounts between 1982 and 2007, Animal People News determined the types of breeds most responsible for death and serious injury.
The combination of pit bulls, rottweilers and wolf hybrids:

* 77% of attacks that induce bodily harm
* 73% of attacks to children
* 83% of attack to adults
* 70% of attacks that result in fatalities
* 77% that result in maiming

Interesting fact about pit bulls:

* Pit bulls attack adults nearly as often as they attack children, a characteristic not found in any other breed."

You're living in dreamland if you think pit-bulls aren't a dangerous breed.
There is a mountain of data which spells out the same things I've clipped above. Do a google search.

Animals aren't people, they operate on instincts bred into them. Obviously there is a bell curve for breeds of dog from docile to aggressive and it's clear from the data that pit-bull's curve is to the right of average.
