What is it? My 26k mile T has what looks to be a base clear paint. I have disassembled and repainted several G bodies and I believe this car has not been painted. My local restoration shop agrees that the car is wearing a factory paint job. While looking through Stephen Dove's book under new options for the 87 turbo cars plastisol paint is listed. Anyone know what it is?

"This invention relates to viscosity stable plastisol sealants and methods of application to metal surfaces, and more particularly to a viscosity stable polyvinyl chloride plastisol sealant composition which does not cause curing problems, yellowing, or discoloration of high solids automobile paint systems when applied to metal joints.

The automobile industry uses polyvinyl chloride based plastisol sealers in the manufacture of various automotive products. Principally, these plastisol sealers are used for sealing metal automobile body joints. Such a seal guards against the penetration of deleterious environmental elements such as moisture, dirt, salt, and the like. Typically, these metal joints are ones in which the sheet metal has been coated with a water-based primer. Such a primer is typically electrodeposited on the metal joint and becomes the surface to which the sealant must adhere."

I googled the name and came up with the patent application for it.According to the long winded explanation above Seems to be the only reference to a paint system, reading further into the site,it seems to be geared more to a body sealant rather than paint.Sorry if it don't help much but your question had me curious also, but I think I'm more confused as to what the hell they're trying to promote in the option book, and how did they get this name wrapped up with automotive paint?
