Ok guys can anyone explain to me how much the Hooker Headers slow you down?
In the process of rebuilding motor and trans and my driverside exhaust manifold needs a little love, thought it would be a great chance to get Hooker Headers to clean things up a bit also I work at Napa so the price is right, but everyone hates them. How much will they really affect me?

It will take longer to spool the turbo. If the converter is really built for and application with them it won't matter.

The hooker headers have too large a volume. They decrease the exhaust velocity and temperature of the exhaust gases before they reach the turbo causing slow spool. There is also issues with the o2 sensor cooling down at idle. Depending on your build I would stay away from them.

Pretty sure most downpipes will not clear hooker headers, mine didn't. With a 2800 stall and a BB turbo, I didn't notice lag issues or a difference when I switched from Hookers to stock headers. But I would spend the money and get the stockers welded with gussets before spending money on Hookers. I threw mine in the trash when I took them off.

Had them LOVED them did not have any spool problems at all. I think Kenny D told me at one time he used them as his dyno set till the Balls wore out!

always loved that name: "Hooker Headers", my t-shirt gets a lot of comments from non-car people.........
