well it's allmost winter, and i broke my transmission. i need some advise on what to do. first i will start with my set up.

87 buick 3.8 motor, precesion pt54 quick spool turbo, precesion front mount intercooler, NX n-ter cooler chiller, 50 lb. injectors, red armstrongs 7th injector, full 3 in. exaust, 3 in down pipe with adjustable wastegate, accell dfi, 200-4r trans, 4.10 rear end, walbro fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 65 mm throttle body, ported and welded intake, match ported and polished heads, new stanless valves, and springs, "cast", remote oil filter, oil cooler, trans cooler, aluminum radiator, electric fan, 160 stat, 207 cam, and a cold air intake.

my best time was a 11.3 @ 127 with a 2.0 60' thats right a 2.0 60 ft.

i couldn't boost off the line 0 psi!!!. i got a stall converter that would foot brake stall @ 3500. i took it to the track for the first time with the new converter, and it worked, i boosted 10lbs off the line. as soon as i let go and mashed the gas BOOM trans went.

now here is the thing, what should i have ran with that set up? and should i keep the 200-4r trans or switch to a 700-r4, and will the 700-r4 work??? any help would be appreciated. thanks everyone.

I can only tell you what worked for me. I ordered a tranny from PTS when my tranny went south. Kept the 2004r and have no regrets as of around a year and a half now. Very solid tranny that is built to take the punishment.

location

Where do you live? There might be a transmission expert near you. That would save shipping. Also if you have a problem no phone tag or shipping back, you can take the car to the shop.Bruce

Dump the 7th injector. It might be coming on too early making you too rich so you cant build boost. Also make sure you have no exhaust leaks before the turbo.

Since you seem to know Red, have him modify your ECM and get some bigger injectors, like 65's or 72's, then dump the 7th setup.

4.10!

The FIRST thing I'd be getting rid of is the 4.10 gear! WAAY too much engine rpm for a stock block at 127mph..
Either a 3.42 or at most 3.73.. Depending on the tires. W/ a cam at 207*, the engine is out of poop at 5500..

Who knows what that combo will do until you get the right trans and gears in it..
You make no mention of what you have done to the suspension and what tires you were running.
As for the 700.. forget that. It's no better than what you already have.. maybe worse..Have the 200 built by someone that knows WTF is going on..I recommend PTS.. Bruce Toelle..
Let us know what the suspension looks like, what tires you have, wtc and go from there..;) ;)

Oh ya! And as was mentioned, ditch the 7th inj and get some bigger inj's so you can tune it right..You have a DFI.. I'd recommend 72's to be safe and that will put enough fuel there for hi 10's, considering 1 pump..

thanks guys, fyi i am running stock suspension, 17 in wheels with drag radials, and i am hooking great "no problems at all" and 28 lbs of boost with 116 race gas and 21 lbs on pump gas.
