POLICE Dodge Chargers!!! Dont try 2 out run them!!!

One of local Troops got into a chase with a Shelby 500 in his 2009 Charger and said that his car was topped out at 149 mph and would not pull anymore. All of the KHP Chargers have low-pro LED light bar so I can't imagine that was dragging him down much.

Our 2008 Impala police cars will run 144 mph which I think is impressive for a V6 powered car.

Are they RT Chargers and not the SRT, as the SRT8 Charger in stock form will top out at 170..............I have an 06 SRT8 Charger as my DD......they are really heavy though, so qtr mile times suffer to the time of 13.4ish. :smile:

Welp.. He got out today, havent talked to him yet on the details my other brother said that he told him when they caught him almost 3hrs later.. and cuffing him at the same time that
he asked the officer "what do u have under that hood??" he smiled and asked him "no, how long have u been ridin?" :biggrin: lol. he told them he just got on it today. lol. {still got court date for the misdemeaners though.}

they still may take his liscense for a yr... he may have to sell his car, stroked banshee 4-wheeler, he probably want to GIVE that motor cycle away ... anyone wanna buy his blue turbo-t?:redface:

First of all outrunning the cops is a dumb idea although ive known a person or two who has pulled it off.

Second, all the 09 and up police chargers got the new vvt hemi which is 400 hp right out of the box . Suspension and chassis are Mercedes based and they don't have any limiters so they are a great platform. Most crotch rockets should out accelerate them though. Guess it depends on how crazy you want to be on the top end . Seriously doubt that any got major mods beyond that . Very rare that they'd need any more than what they come with and that kind of chase would likely not be pursued very long for safety of officers and bystanders alike. Big waste of taxpayers money . Hope he learns his lesson .

It's silly to try and outrun any cop car...regardless if they can catch you or not or if your car can outrun theirs, there's other dangers to worry about...people suddenly pulling out into the roadway not knowing you're going to be eating their bumper in 5 seconds because they don't see you back there a mile away coming up fast...there's also animals that suddenly dart out into the road, and depending on where you're at, pedestrians. Plus I've seen before where a cop chasing a fast car end up crashing/killing the officer and the speeder was charged for the officers death on top of evading arrest. Let's also not forget what can happen if your tire blows out at high speeds...yeah there's more I can't think of. Mind you I've been tempted to see if a cop can keep up with me in the TR but I'm not about to find out. Well maybe I'll invite them to the track and we'll do a match up where it's legal.

well have had wifes AWD HEMI Charger up to 146 on GPS with more left...I know my local PD runs the V6,,doubt the V6 will run up above 120....know most PD's run the V6

I apologize for my errror. I looked it up and the charger version of the new 5.7 is rated at 368 and 395 TQ. In the ram the same engine is rated at 390 and 407 tq.

AWD Charger? Never heard of that.

yep AWD HEMI with RT package...2008... aslo FYI police Chargers do not have any badging....NJSP use them now....
