WHAT A POS!

Did you hear him say "Blow your brains out"

center mass. Still a threat? Head shot on the way. I guess that's tied to the "blow your brains out"....:D

FWIW: The latest issue of American Rifleman has an article on self defense training. I thot it to be informative, and am planning on trying it.
NE LEO'S see it? Comments??

NO, NO!

The bad guy said it. Evidently he got the best of the cop for a few seconds he barked off a couple of demands and then I heard "Don't make me blow your brains out" a few seconds later he SHOT! Then the officer fired back...

Good thing he couldn't shoot and the officer could... I bet he was aiming for the head:mad::mad::mad:aiding his missing of the good guy!

Now do all of you see what a dangerous job the police have? That made the hair stand up on my head.....out there late at night in the middle of nowhere and they never know what's going to happen....it could have gone the other way and that cop's wife/children would have been devastated forever. The officer did a great job of taking care of the situation. You just never know when some idiot will turn on you at the slightest advantage they get. What a high stress, nerve wracking job to tackle everyday. I wonder if I could do it....probably not. It takes a certain type of person to do this dangerous work on a daily basis.

This shows why the police ALWAYS have to be on their best guard, always alert to any threat no matter how innocent it looks....which is why I respect how they are when I arrive at a checkpoint, etc. Jeez, how can anyone NOT respect our police officers when they are out there taking the fire from a coward instead of us taking the fire from the coward.

Great post, Brett. "Let's be careful out there"

Makes a good point for the "2 officers per car" argument....
Sorry, Shane. Got it backwards!

Yeah, 2 does sound a lot better!

I guess it depends on availability though. A little town I am from would pull you at night and wait until another car showed up to shine the lights on the whole stop... Got real embarrassing with two cops behind me all the time;) I don't blame them.... They knew me and gave me a little bit of a tough time, they didn't like my music or driving habits too much:biggrin: All of them were cool but one old dude:rolleyes:

Anyway, this guy was so nice and then instantly:eek: Just goes to show you never know with folks...:frown:

Good job by the Deputy. Those things turn in an instant. And I think injdinjn is stalking Brett.

he's just still licking his wounds after making a complete and utter fool out of himself in the thread he posted about the cops on motorcycles who were DONATING their time vs. moonlighting as he erroneously thought.

he just feels stupid and still trying to take his foot out of his mouth....:o

Yep, I caught that one too. What a way to live your life. I hope I'm never that ate up.

Just me and having been brought up around cops of all stripe, but I still can't imagine how people decide that taking their own problems out on true servants of the law is any kind of idea. My God, what was that guys likely result from this? Surely not worth attempting to take a Good Man's life. I recognize that despite our national founders writings, not all men are equal, but that deputy was all kindsa polite and surely just trying to do right by all, including the guy walking. Yeah, he got what he was after. I'm sad for the deputy. He did his job controlling the situation. I just wish I had the words...

But I worry about checkpoints Bruce! Auswies, bitte!

Not sure that guy was a coward either, just not 'right'. But that's indeed why we count on LEO's professionalism in our protection. It Can go wrong that fast.

Why do you worry about checkpoints? If you're a law abiding citizen and not a previous troublemaker with the law officials, what's to worry about?

I don't mind checkpoints at all, it's nice, and a good time to chat with the police officers doing their jobs....checking for felons, etc....can't see why it could be something to worry about.....I never fail to thank them for trying to keep our society safe...always thank them for keeping the bad guys from stealing my Grand National or Vette, to which they always chuckle at and say "we try, nice GN/Vette", but it's true in a way.

What are you worried about?

exactly Bruce. checkpoints are there to get those who are a danger off the road so those who are NOT dont have to worry about dieing or burying their loved ones cause someone wanted to roll the dice and operate under the influence saying..... "Ill just drive slow and be careful" or not care at all and operate under the influence every weekend cause they think they are impervious to danger or causing danger.

a little over 40,000 deaths on the highway every year. 40% are a result of DUI. approx. 16,000 die every year as a result of DUI. the last time I checked the stats as a comparative statistic were slightly over 4,000 that died in Iraq in 2007. pretty staggering numbers when u think over 3x more died as a result of DUI that same year.

and thats just for those DUI not to mention the wanted felons that checkpoints accomplish.

people seem to lose sight of the concept of protecting the innocent to apprehend those who put others in danger and get all righteous. its like going thru the airport and having to pass thru the medal detector. its not there to inconvenience people, its there to protect them.

the fact is some will be held up briefly for the greater good. there is no escaping that fact. if dont like it stay off the road.

I worry about the erosion of liberty and a little clause that goes "innocent until proven guilty". Now I don't want to get this thread kicked into the political section, but it's quite simple that random searches are a violation of the Fourth Ammendment to The United States Constitution. It's arguably also a violation of The Fifth Ammendment whereupon a violation of the fourth causes self incrimination. I won't get into how administrative law allow's for these unjust violations for the sake of the lounge though.

Don't get me wrong, I wold NEVER be a victim of a checkpoint. That's obviously how I view those who get caught in such a manner. I take life and the law seriously. I may not always take traffic law as seriously as a good explanation, or attorney, but that's seemingly my only real vice.

I too look upon a lawful roadside stop as an opportunity to make a new friendly aquaintance. I've left a light out on my daily for over five years now just to reafirm public relations with any LEO zealous enough to stop me for it. And while my habit's have 'allowed' me to fund local government generously over the years, I've driven aways from literally hundreds of potential other 'opportunities' where two people are smiling and the court gets none.

I've spent my whole life around law enforcement of every stripe and truly appreciate them more than I could express here, but some things, like checkpoints, are just wrong in a free and open society. I would rather endure the risk of "the bad guys" being out there, and have the penalties for being a Bad Guy greatly increased to make people think twice, and make life easier on the enforcement community, than have them violating peoples true God Given rights just to catch a couple idiots who will assuredly get a slap on the wrist under the current court system way of things.

Summing it up; More FREEDOM, Less INTRUSION, and Greater PENALTIES would IMHO make life easier on law enforcement and all of us who depend upon them. It's the same concept as how increased participation in concealed carry has caused such a dramatic decrease in violent crime. When people re-learn to accept responsibility and acknowledge the consequences of their action's, law enforcements role becomes easier.

That's something I want for us All, AND for them in appreciation for the job they do.

peace;)

I like your way of thinking.
