I started a big debate in the hot-air area. I was wondering if one should run a HV front cover or not. I am building a 4.1 and spending alot of money in my eyes and want to do the right thing for it. Cause of the higher volume of members in this area I thought I would ask our cold-air brothers.

A while back I used to think a HV was the way to go. All my motors now get a standard pump, blue-printed cover, booster plate and a TA Performance regulator.

Do what gives you the most confidence dude. Personally, I wil never run a 3.8 w/o the HV cover/pump. Some go faster w/o one [ it does take 4.5hp to drive the HV pump], some swear by the HV unit. I've heard good things about the KB/KD/ATR booster plate and some Dremmel work to an oem cover. Do what seems right to you. Bottom line is, it's a personal choice... make the one that leaves you confident.

I had a stock cover with booster plate and ran the PF-42. What do you do to the stock cover with the dremel? And where do you get the bigger filter adapter. I'm full of stupid questions.

Race Jace the power plate guy has the biggie oil filter adaptor at his website.

The lower housing under the plate gets dremeled out a bit (clearanced) to provide greater flow or pressure when you install the booster plate. Should have been done during the install of the plate. You just dremel or machine the housing a bit.

I use a big PH-8 I think Fram filter. Only had one on the car since I put the adaptor on it.

Many use the Baldwin B-9's.

It's the old style big american thread from the old days.

RJC puts a list of what he recommends in with the kit.

Do a search on the "Biggy" oil filter tons of good filter threads out there.

Obviously I'm not a good listener as I used the Fram RJ recommended.
