Wastegate advice...HELP!!

I'm trying to get my pos GN running for the Nationals. Among other major problems i'm having is this ATR piece 'o crap external gate.

Hate to air my dirty laundry, but i'm tight on money & sick of messing with this ATR junk. Spent $100 last year for ATR to rebuild it and it lasted 200 miles, they won't do anything about it. I've had thoughts about buying a new gate and junking this one but had rather try to make this work if it'll hold-up and not break AGAIN! I've heard John Craig charges $50.00...??

So what should I do, where can I get a GOOD gate and how much?

I've got a 10.90/80 "street-car" and if I ever get it running again I'm more interested in cruising it on the street with 14 lbs boost, 93 octane and BFG Radial TA tires and a "occasional" blast down the track in race trim with 25lbs boost.
Here is pics of my current gate set-up:

What about it?

save your money and buy a Tial or if your ATR gate is leaking at the flange have it machined flat.

Yeah I think it was leaking @ the flange.
I'm probably going to order a pro-gate Today and use this ATR gate as a boat anchor. The #%m-thing cost me a motor!

Probably gonna have the down pipe mounts cut-off, welded & smoothed then mount the new gate down on the header..if I can get the piece o' crap ATR header to seal-up.

If I had to use a gate it would be a Tial.

I would sell it all and slap on a 3.5" THDP with the stock WG and rip away problem free.

What's up Doc!?
Your car sounds sick! Do you have any pictures you can post.
I would really like to see the flares.
THANKS
CHAD

I appreciate the advice. I've never heard of a Tial gate till this thread.

My buddy called me this morning after he pulled apart the ATR gate and found the only thing wrong with it was the diaphram pinched therfore not moving open and shut properly. Said everything else was fine. I'm tempted to put a new diaphram and gasket under it and give it a whirl & save $500.00 if it holds....

It's worth a try I guess.

Just got off the phone with ATR and they are gonna ship out to me a new diaphram and gasket. Hopefully the gate will work fine after this. We'll see.

For what it's worth - I've run an ATR gate on my street car for years with no problem. As long as the flange is true and the diaphragm and upper seal are good, that's about all there is to the thing. Good luck!
