In my younger days, I worked in a wire factory for almost ten years. Used to run a machine that insulated wire with asbestos and then immersed it in a compound. Used to handle raw asbestos and put it on the part of the machine that spun it on to the wire. Sort of like a ferris wheel that spun as the wire was drawn thru it. After putting the asbestos roll on to it you pretty much wiped your hands together to get the fibers off them. No masks or any protection except for the covers over the ferris wheel contraption. So far no symptoms over 30 years later, hoping for the best.
