Well, today I found out that my GN is a non-posi 
I was wondering, I have an 8.5 rear from probably a caprice or something...which is posi. I plan to take out the carrier, if there's any way to tell if it's a 28 0r 30 spline axle from the #'s on the ring? numbers are as follows: 3984828 -13-40 (308 gears, I assume) GM-9. Thanks for all your help, guys. Also, could I use the gears from the non-posi on the new one?
