At Kirbans show, 30 some odd cars had the Powerplate installed
by Dave (Kirbans Mechanic), NONE had the hole drilled!!!!!

Now that makes absolutely NO SENSE.

Typical Kirban, all about the $$$.

Betcha they were mostly stock street cars too.

A portable drill woulda slowed him down by a minute I guess....

ACTUALLY, all of the ones Dave installed DID have the hole drilled. It is an important thing to do, and he knows that. It would have been dumb for him to take time and drill each one as the cars came in, so it was more efficient for him to pre-drill all of them at the shop ahead of time.

It's not a good thing that people bad-mouth before they know the facts. Here Dave is, doing things the best way (as usual), and people turn it around into a nagative assumption.

My Mistake then!! I didn't see him doing it, and was told my a Nameless individual that didn't, but was not exactly looking for it either.

Holes?

The BEST way for Dave to have done it was to have plates with and without the hole. Then he could have charged more for installing those WITH the hole, since it's obviously harder. He would have made more money (maybe) and those who don't like holes would have been satisfied. Guess maybe some plates with half-holes might have been needed, too.

Sorry I brought it up, but before I left the show that day I was asked by 3 people if I noticed if Dave was drilling the holes, since I was over there. I didn't remember him drilling them, so I replied that I didn't see him drilling any.

As Mr. Nova pointed out, they were all done ahead of time!

Phil, this probably doesnt help you any.......lol......but both of my cars have the powerplates, and they are NOT drilled. However, after reading this, Im thinking about drilling out the one in the ttype since a get a lot of part throttle knock/passing on the highway knock. But, most of that (from my testing) has been from crappy 91 octane gas in Pittsburg.

Anyone else have any further information on drilling vs not drilling. You got me thinking about the EGR operation at cruising speeds. The EGR does cool off the combustion chamber a bit....hmmmmm

I put my plate in at the Reynolds race without drilling the hole,I drove the car home some 300 miles at highway speeds and a couple of jumps to well over 100mph and never saw any knock at all so I would think if your car diplays the knock then drill it if not leave it alone ,me?until it knocks I am leaving it alone!!!to each his own:D

Hey Phil, see what you have started LOL
I have had my plate on for awhile now and didn't drill the hole and have seen no problems yet just good running, Also let me know how the Black Bastard is doing you didn't call back so I hope that means everything is A-OK
