I figured since the group purchase just closed, it would be a good idea to start this for those of us
that would like to try to do the install by ourselves. Feel free to share all tips from any
experience that would help some of us (including myself) with the install. I'll be plugging in a
wideband O2 sensor kit from PLX also so any tips for that are appreciated. I know to pm TurboBob
for most info but thought some other guys may have found out some tricks to make life a little
easier when we/I tackle this project. Thanks, Tim

Ok, I'll start:
1. Take your time and don't drink beer while doing the install.

Windows 7 can be interesting to install on, don't be shy, and enlist a guru if needed. Best $60 I spent!

That knocks me out. My step 1) was 'open beer' :D

One tip I did was to shave the plastic off the USB cable that plugs into the powerlogger. I noticed it had some pressure on it from the plastic kickpanel and I didn't want to flex the PCB over time.

I wished there was instructions on the config and download page as to what the settings mean , volts, smoothings mean and on data page what ecm I/O mean ,

I plan on having a few beers before as to not get frustrated during

Still waiting here to. Thanks for the input. I'm sure as everyone gets theirs, this thread will really wake up. Tim

It's pretty straight forward. I've only did one but I have vary little recollection of what I did so there was nothing odd or headscratching about it.

I do remember not removing the PCB from the case to clean the goo off. It seems like the instructions said to remove them. I just peeled up the 'flap' of metal, cut it off with tin snips and dressed the edges with a file.

Cleaned the goo off the edge connector, snipped the bottom out o the kick panel, trimmed the USB cable, went back to the fridge again, and made sure there was nothing loading or flexing the cable or the powerlogger. Cleaning the goo was the only time consuming part. Oh, and make sure to note what direction the notch is on the scamaster's IC before you pull it.

I had a laptop that wouldn't communicate with powerlogger. Drove me insane. I still try it every once in a while. Still doesn't work. Bought a laptop with windows 7 and everything was fine. The install was the easy part.

I don't believe we will be getting them for a few weeks according to the original thread. I am curious about the extra inputs to log boost, fuel pressure, etc. I would like to do a little more and have it log more than the typical stuff. Excited to mess with it. I have one on the race car I bought, but have yet to get the car back together so never messed with it. Just bought this one for the daily to monitor everything. Interested to see how we all do. ;)

you guys should familiarize yourself with the manual. click the online pdf and read through it. lots of other info on fullthrottle.
takes a abit to learn the stuff but is fairly easy.
in the manual you will find the installation guide and the PL manual. look through it if you've never seen it.

Funny you should mention that. I was actually drinking beer earlier today and soldering up some precision temp probes to play with powerlogger. Since it only has two AUX inputs I was trying to decide if I wanted to log intercooler in/out, oil cooler in/out, transmission cooler in/out or oil temp + trans temp.....

......so I started looking in my junk boxes for a rotary switch so I can turn a knob and choose which pair i want to show :)

now I'm just drinking beer and looking at pictures of women on the interwebs :D

no, didn't get any stuff installed. I got booty called instead. I've yet to figure how how my FWBs know to call when I'm trying to work on the Buick. :\

It's one of the mysteries of the universe
