The USB cable that comes with the Power Logger is 6' long .

My cover has been trimmed nicely to fit the USB port. Also bought a right angle USB and you can almost not tell it is there. Don't have to worry about the passenger kicking it

you want to make sure the PL board stays fully seated in the ECM, with no pressure on it from the ECM mounting plastics.

This is the most critical and frustrating piece for me, especially with the SD2 chip since the powerlogger is now running your car. I've had MANY instances where the powerlogger gets slightly unseated causing the car to run poorly or not at all.

I hear you. The way the ECM is built and the stock mounting arrangement are a pain.

I have been looking at ways to improve the mounting, and have a couple ideas.

Lets discuss this as the weather breaks.
