What are the parts or part #'s you need to covert to hydroboost brakes?

Thanks

I am concerned about spending alot to repair and still have headaches:confused:
Thanks for the input.
Owning a TR you will be spending a lot on repairs and having a lot of headaches. The cars are 25 years old and if parts have not been replaced with new OEM or better then you will find yourself constantly fixing problems. You never really know the maintenance records or the way the car was maintained by its previous owners.

Thanks Keith.

I love the HB....... My junkyard unit worked great...... I probably have between $100-$150 in the entire conversion. There is no other brake system that can surpass the line pressure the HB has going to the calipers and wheel cylinders.

The Vac guys talk about being happy with their conversion..... and that's great...... however.... there is more than one thread (do a search) on people that converted to vacuum.... not being able to hold any boost.... or enough boost.....You can't find a thread on HB and not holding boost..... go look for yourself...... IMHO..... if you must change the brake pedal out to go vacuum...... there isn't that much more trouble required to go HB.

Anyway..... if you do decide to go HB..... follow the threads.... and there are several.... outlining what to do and what to get....... the end product.... after it is bled properly..... is unsurpassed by any other form of braking system period.

Thanks for the info. I researched the part #'s for the Duralast stuff with no luck. Right part #'s?

They make dedicated bulk power steering hose too.

Not sure what the difference is between that and transmission hose but each is made for its' purpose.

I just got some at NAPA recently about the same price I think as what was posted.

Hey....when converting from Powermaster to Hydroboost, do you also have to replace the actuating rod that connects to the pedal? Or can the one on the powermaster also be used with hydroboost?

In other words would I have to crawl underdash and fiddle with it trying to replace it if going HB from PM? Or is it a "take it off the firewall and put it back on" type deal?

You will have to crawl under the dash to undo the pin that holds it on, but the rod is part of the booster, so it should (mine did) come out with the powermaster and then one will be connected to the hydroboost booster and you will reconnect that one to the same pedal. I used a different cotter pin because the stock one was a bitch to put back in and I couldnt get it so I gave up. I used a thinner pin that had a little more flexability in it.

X2. The rod is part of the booster, in both the the PM and the HB. You will have to crawl under the dash anyway, because you have to remove the 4 nuts that hold the PM adapter plate to the firewall. This plate has to come off with the PM, as the HB has the 4 mounting studs attached to it already.

Thanks, I was thinking maybe the pin would come out and that perhaps the HB and the PM used the same one.

Let me add.... if using the astro van HB unit.... the "rod" is too long and will need to be modified to shorten it. I looked into a plate that I could use to bolt the HB to the firewall bracket that was thicker... and would offset the amount that the rod was too long..... therefore making it where you didn't need to modify the rod at all....then all you would need is a bushing to make the pin slide on to the Astro Van HB rod....
