I have 5 disc, Vigilante, 9.5", 3500 stall converter. It is on the way back from being rebuilt (only burnt clutches) from Precision.
I am puzzled by what Jack said could cause the clutches to burn.
He said only lack of fluid and also the most disturbing is "just a few seconds of stall on the line" will also ruin the clutches.
There are many of these in use and I cannot see alot of people upset because of clutches ?
I don't read all the posts, but surely there is somethng I am missing?
I did have the assist tube and the restrictor. I have the PTS pan and pick up.
There were only a few 11.00 runs on a fresh converter.
I am going to use it again, but want to make it last.
Any input will help
Thanks

There is a pump mod for the 5 disc. I am not sure what it does, just know it exists. Also, did you remove the cage and check ball in the end of the input shaft?

Yes the pump is set up for higher pressure. The check ball was not removed
but there was some mods to the cage I am told.
