I was surfing the Precisionturbo.net site over night, and I saw a TA64 Turbocharger in their list!!! I have never heard of it, and I was wondering if anyone else has?

I wanna put it in my hot air...I can mount it up, so longs as I have clearance under the hood. Anybody think it wont work? Think it will?

John

I've had one on my hotair for a few years now. It will easily clear everything. If you've added an intercooler, it's a bolt on. If not, you have to adapt the turbo outlet to the intake inlet.

Just make sure you get a good 3,400 stall convertor to help spool it. If you're intercooled, I would highly recommend moving the throttlebody to the pressure side of things as it will help spool. At the least, run a ported throttlebody.

I'd be glad to answer any other questions.

awesome, thanks cool. I have been talking with another hot air owner who can build me up the proper mounting hardware for the non-IC application, onlong with boring out the TB, and re=clocking the compressor. i am thinking of the vigilante 9" 3400 stall converter. any other reccomendations? I am looking at the 60 injectors that just came out last year, and of course, alky! thanks for the info!

i have tss car that runs a ta 64 by precsion i would
recomend a art car 9" 9930 L pump 3500 stall

My dad runs a 3,400 stall 9-11 on his daily driver. You notice it's there but it's totally streetable. I have a Vigillante 3,200 stall and with my 4.1, it spools pretty fast and I can get all the boost I need off the line. You might need a little more for a 3.8. Just make sure you have a good trans cooler.

Don't know if you can bore a hotair TB big enough to match the inlet of the turbo. I thought 62mm was the limit but I could be wrong.

I installed the 60s on my car a couple weeks ago along with a turbotweak chip and the idle and drivability are great.

I wonder if I am going to have to have a TB fabricated? I wonder who the hellc an do that!!!

lol

Your best bet would probably be to adapt one of the aftermarket 86-87 TBs to work. I'm about to go to a 70mm unit so we'll see what it takes. I would think the only problem would be throttle and TV linkage but it might be a bolt on. The only thing I know for sure is I'll have to use the 87 TPS but it's about 1/4 the price of the hotair unit anyway. If you have any success boring the hotair TB bigger than 62mm, let me know.

I'll post the same question in the hot air forums around the boards...maybe someone already did it!

John

btw, thanks cool!!!

if you plan to fully utilize a ta64 you will need a good fuel system
a good trans and rotating assembley the converter is no
problem on the street.

fuel system: WALBRO 340 with the hot wire kit and harness, 60 lb fuel injectors, ALKY injection

Rebuilt, hardend parts 2004r trans, art carr shift kit, with fluid cooler, and custom pan cooler

Roller motor all the way...Dave Weber special w/ harlem sharp roller rockers, full portwork, 30 over block, custom roller cam, the works!!! As per air delivery, I just gotta figure out a TB!
