Have any of you ever taken something in for repair, and it was no better off than when you dropped it off? Do you guys ever wonder "How in the hell did that guy think this was fixed????"
Are you guys noticing that more and more people are losing their integrity and pride these days? I know I have. Whenever I work on something for someone, I do it as if it were mine, no questions asked. If it's not absolutely perfect, I'm simply not satisfied, and I will keep redoing it till it is.
I have been taking things in lately, and have started to notice, that there's not a lot of people left in this city, that care to do things right these days lol. It's gettin old....
I took a rifle in to get some work done on it, as I don't have my tools anymore, nor the time to do it myself either. When I got it back, it was no better off than when I took it in.... I was like WTF??? There's just no way around it. If you want it done right, ya just gotta do it yourself...... I'm gettin sick of this ****...

I know what you mean... I'm a firm believer in -If you want a job done right you got to do it yourself. case in point, Had a new roof put on my house 10 yrs. ago- 10 yr. warranty- second day I called the owner and asked if they were professionals... He replied yes- I asked then why is the first piece of facia board over 1" off level? He came and told them to redo...What should have taken 2-3 days took 13 days, Chimney supposedly leaked they wrapped in shrink wrap- roof still leaked, redid 8 ft area around chimney- twice- still leaks. Here I am 10 yrs later and it leaked again last week, Oh, they were suppose to reflash the 3 chimneys- found out later they only did one- they have all been done now... Never ends...

the stuff that gets me as well is when you take something in to get serviced, and they mess something else up that wont show its self for a day or two so you have to bring it back to them so they can make more money

I bought a BRAND NEW pickup and when I went to get it I noticed it had a ding in the back bumper. They told me no big deal they will get the part and bring it back on Monday. When I dropped it off they said about 20 minutes to fix it and I could wait. I told them I had to go to work and they could have it all day. After work I go pick it up and noticed 3 gouges in the bed side. I had to leave the truck for two more days. Then they couldn't understand why I didn't give them 100% feedback on the customer satisfaction survey.

Sorry for the long rant guys, but I know you can relate...

Yep....
1. Carmax kept telling a friend the battery in her car was no good which was the reason the car would not start. The security system was keeping it from starting. I told them the battery was not the issue because its a daily driver and never gave any signs of being bad. The service advisor was successful in losing her in technical jargon so she directed him to me. I played dumb on the phone and showed up to the location without notice to let them try it again. This time the mechanic and service advisor attempted to flood me with lies and incorrect explanations for the reason it happend. I then informed them that I have been in the automotive field for over 15 years and felt completely disrespected that they would treat me and the owner this way. I put on a nice show for the other customers in the waiting area and got a free battery out of the deal.

Fast Forward 60 days
Same Problem... Back to Carmax it goes. Now, I get the same service advisor and he remembers me, her, and the car. I inform him I am delighted to here from him again and asked if he spent his weekend like she did? With a car that left him in single digit temps in a empty parking lot wating on a ride and tow truck because the had too much pride to go over the car again and find the real faulty part that has caused this for a third time!! He said he would waive the $50 deductiable and have it ready today because they found the problem. Being a smart ass I say what, you guys gave her a defective battery? "No Sir, it was the ignition lock." he says. "Noooo not the same thing I suggested last time when you guys reflashed the system and said it was fine right? It has to be the battery because you and your tech were so confident and last time for the same problem. Cranks forever, bright lights, the whole 9 yards remember!!

2. My neighbor has a Hyndai Sonata that starts to run rough and dies after 10 minutes. I direct her to a local shop that finds the crank sensor wires are rubbed through and needs to be replaced. She says "I had that replaced a year ago" and they show her the alley mechanic simply put black tape on the rubbed through section and pocketed her $250:eek: He did the job and she even paid him to tune it up. Now, she loves us and is send her boyfriend to shake hands with the alley guy.

This was about 11 months ago.

My ford f250 powerstroke diesel i currently own used to be owned by my work.

One day it just pukes antifreeze all over in front of one of our guys house, the water pump just literally blew up and dumped it all over the ground.

Had it towed from the guys house to the STEALERSHIP to have the water pump installed, it was a sunday and we just wanted it fixed early that week.

They called and said the truck was fixed, no problems with the engine, except now your truck that was towed in, WILL NOT START. It needs a new injector driver module. If anyone doesnt know, its a 1000.00 part and you have to take the fender off to get to it. Can you say horsecrap!

I was standing in the office when we took the call, we all knew they were trying to pull a fast one on our account. Had the truck towed 45 miles to my work and noticed the batteries were low on voltage. Charged up the batteries for about 30 minutes and the truck fired right up.

We immediately called the stealership back up and did the 20 questions as we knew they were trying to screw us.

Ive driven the truck over 15,000 miles ZERO ISSUES since that day.

Gotta watch out or your new nickname will be BEN DOVER

I don't care what it is, if I've got the money to fix it, I've got the money to buy whichever tools I don't have for the job. Then if I get lost I call my pro friends for advice to my dilema! If there's any further issue, I've got the tools and experience then too! Nobody touches my property if I can help it at all.
