I'm in the process of starting a new motor tried priming it today and got no oil at the rocker or through the push rods scorpion RR also no oil it the pte oil saver that's connected to the block and turbo feed any help would be appreciated

I pulled my cam sensor, poured a little oil in there, even though I did have the oil pump stuffed with vasoline, yes vasoline and it works and its only in there till I change the oil for the first time, which is after the initial startup. Used a primer, sbc primer from Jegs or Summit works just fine, spun it with my drill till I felt and heard the drill drag. Started right up with pressure!

Are you using a primer and a drill to prime?

You could always pull the oil pump feed line and fill with oil from there, so the oil goes straight into the pump, should help get the pump primed better for ya.

Didn't prime the oil pump have a priming tool and drill.Let it spin for about ten to fifiteen minutes did drag but no oil in the rocker shafts or pte oil saver turbo feed etc... don't want to make a mistake with this one!!

You must prime the pump or no oil will pass through it. Take off the top cooler hose at the radiator and use a small hose and funnel to pour oil down hose into pump. Should take at least a half quart. Takes a while because air gets trapped in hose, so be patient. Re-attach hose and go back to drill and priming tool.

I ran mine clockwise, as if I was tightening. Worked for me.

Thanks guys talk to another Guru I know and he also told me about priming the pump. Will try it and let you know!!

Did you get oil pressure on the gauge? Did you hear the drill strain? The drill spinclockwise as if you are drilling in the normal fashion.

You probably have to turn the motor over while priming to see the oil coming out of the rockers.

I like to prime the motor with the intake off. This way I can see if the lifters are hemmoraging.

How long did you have to spin the drill before you will see the oil out of the rockers?

As the drill turning I rotated the engine...its took about 3 mins tops until I saw oil from all. Make sure you have the turbo oil feed plugged at the block. As the psi built my drill smoked.

Is it safe to say if turbo oil line isn't blocked it takes longer. Last time i primed motor with line attached no problem.

I have never primed an oil pump and have never failed to pump up just fine for pre-lube.

How is the geometry on the valve train? If your RR's are not adjusted properly, or the pushrods are too long/short, the oil path will be blocked to the top end.

I dont know for sure but oil will have the path of less resistance. When I primed my motor, oil from the feed hole yes nothing from the pushrods until I plugged it.

Sounds like the drill speed is very low RPM. A good drill motor should spin the pump plenty fast enuf to overcome a leak as small as the turbo feed line.

Did you prime the oil filter ?What wieght oil?Do you have a hv cover from FTS?
Is oil coming out the the turbo oil feed?

I am also in the process in priming the oil pump

Does it matter which oil cooler line you use to feed the oil in?

And do you need to fill the engine with oil also?

If you're talking about priming the motor by pouring oil into the pump. Use the top line off of the radiator. It's easier to access and it pours into the top of the pump. The dipstick should show full when you do this.
