Guys, I need a new printer. This is for home use only...and I need one that's user friendly...and it doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles...just needs to print without me having to change the ink cartridges every other week. What do you guys recommend?

Spend the money on a laser printer. I learned after pissing so much money into injets I spent the extra.

If you want to keep your color capabilities, I'd recommend the new Kodak line of printers. Their ink cartridges are really cheap compared to all the other brands, and their ads tout the inexpensive ink! The only question I have is that their cartridges are the all in one type. I'm not crazy about that feature, but when I priced their cartridges they were really cheap!!

hp

I'm an hp guy. We have four children and do a fair amount of printing for school stuff. We have a 4400 series printer scanner copier currently. It was only about $60 and uses black inks that are about $13 and the combo color and black pkg is about $30.

In my experience the lexmark is the worst one, ink is expensive and the cartriges don't seem to last long.

Heard the kodak hype but the unit was $40 more and the inks weren't that much cheaper to make it worth it. In our experience the priner quits before the cheaper ink would have offset the more expensive cost of the printer. Maybe the inks would last longer but the savings wasn't enough for me to try it.

Lexmark and Epson have small expensive cartridges.

It takes some research, but you can find the ink use/cartridge for every printer. Think mileage/tank.

I have come to the conclusion that those companies are in the ink business not the printer business.

My wifes HP has bigger cartridges than my Epson and she gets hers cheaper at Costco. Costco doesn't carry epson.

I bought a hp photosmart7260 4 years ago and never used it. When my other one took a crap two weeks ago I hooked it up and it would not work because the ink cartridge's were date coded:confused:WTF. Date codes on cartridges. so I went to the store and bought three new cartridges and it worked. Anyone ever here of this bullsh!t before. So they cant be refilled? What a scam.

I just got a Lexmark a few weeks ago, full color, fax, scanner, and flat bed copier and the ink cart are about $20 for the black and $30 for all 3 colors in one pack, and thats even the 100x cartridges which are their bigger carts.
Prints very nice, happy so far.
