Took my first trip to test and tune night this year with my recently rebuilt trans and conv. Was expecting the car to at least pick up where it left off before 3rd gear let go last fall. My last trip to the track saw low to mid 13's @ 108-110 mph. That was with a bad flare on the 2-3 shift. Last night I went back hoping to see more comparable et's and mph. No such luck. 15.0 @ 104. 2.40 60ft.

Car would not leave. I tried everything. It just rolled out to about the 330 and then starded to dig. Would not spin enough to build more than 4 psi on the line.
My first guess is the converter is locked up for some reason. On the highway, everything works fine, I can even feel the converter lockup just like it's supposed to. But at the track, it just doesn't act right. Won't even do a burnout correctly. Car just feels like it's chugging until 3000 RPM then it takes off. Anyone ever just get a bad converter?
Am I missing something?
Any help is appreciated.
Steve

Did you change the convertor? Sounds like it is not stalling high enough

not trying to offend, but are you sure its even starting in 1st gear? Sounds like a convertor problem if it is starting in 1st.

I'm with the others on the converter. Mine did the same thing. The stator in the converter broke. My car would not stall over 1500. It was kinda wierd b/c it would build some boost at this RPM.

Yes, I did change the converter. I am starting to lean that way also. I explained the symptoms to a mechanic/ racer friend of mine and he said the same thing. He said it sounded like the lockup was hanging up under foot brake. The converter is supposed to be a restalled D5 @ around 2800. I guess I'll start there.

No, I'm not sure if it's starting in first gear. My third pass I locked it down in first and rode the rev-limiter for about 50 ft. and shifted it manually and it seemed to pull harder but still wouldn't leave right.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I'll start with the converter unless Anyone's got a better idea
