Well, after a long period of unemployment after my divorce last year and after serving 6 months in LA county jail., I finally received a promotion at work. I work at Autozone which is not the greatest job in the world but I have fun doing it. Ive got one week left before my part specialist ASE certification test...wish me luck fellas!!!! Autozone paid the test fees and provided the study guides so that was cool. Hopefully when the economy picks up I can find a new gig working for GM or PAW. I know finding a gig should be a little easier if I have that patch on my shoulder.

Good luck to you man....it sounds like you've got things going in the right direction and your luck has turned.
Words of advice......Make the most out of what ever job you are in, as I'm sure there's room for advancement at the zone and dress for the job you want not the one you are currently in.

Enjoy it while it lasts before the illegal immigrants with swine flu offer to work for less than free per hour and take your job

GM? I would look elsewhere as they seem to be closing plants as well as laying off everyday.

haha...when we close at night i have to park all the ford trucks in the staging area. my boss asks me all the time "how come there are skid marks all over the parking lot?''

im like "idk must be some kids messing around out there out night."

lol brake stands are fun in those little fords. it feels good being one of the only zoners at my store who knows a lot about cars. i spend a lot of time answering questions for customers and im proud to say that 99.9% of the time im right. autozone is a fun place to work. i wished it payed more but i feel that the pay will catch up with the fun in due time. my store manager and assistant store manager both have quick cars so we do a lot trash talking to each other lol. my boss has an lt1 camaro and the other manager has a little 335 sbc powered chevy vega on laughing gas. we havent ran yet but i look foward to it. we are all from palmdale ca the ex home of lacr so most of our customers are REAL gearheads.

I was the diagnostic specialist at store 081 in nashburg for 2 years and I stepped down from being a PSM. Good luck dude and all the best. I lasted 5 years before I got fed up with the idiot in charge. His nickname was Ediot BTW. He didn't know and ran the store into the ground. I wish I could've stayed but he was cutting into my "extra" money from sidework and the DM didn't care so I left and never looked back.

My 7s i made in my gn are still in the parking lot in garden city store 2262 i did that 3 yrs ago lol i quit a year ago... all you gotta do to run an autozone is actually know how to work on cars and have some custo service skills i always only sold people on products i actually used and when doing diagnostics i actually told people what the scans ment instead of handing them a piece of paper and sending them out of the door i actually heard that customers would come in ask for me and if i wasnt there they would leave... i was only a red shirt(senior sales) but i was the only red shirt with a manager password on the puter and i made $9.90 an hr ...i told them i didnt want a manager spot considering they started at $10 ..Also in your spare time take the other tests interview skills etc etc.. youd be suprised how easy they are and ur dm will take notice...Is it me or do the rangers seem to have a close gear ratio when you break ur foot off in them?
