Melissa's works great  She runs a 9/11 converter from Bruce

Is Melissa's a DBB turbo? I am also gonna run a 9/11 with my non BB Turbonetics 61, hoping it'll work ok.

Under Pressure my buddy just put his DBB 67 on his GN and I haven't ridden in it yet but he said it is scary fast and flat out blows the tires away when he leans on the loud pedal. It's a car he drives on the street only and never races that I know of, so yeah I have a feeling you would like it  He's running a 3200 9.5 CPT converter and he said the boost comes quick!

just had a 67 installed and i think it's a beautiful turbo for the street compared to my 2 previous turbos (66 DBB and a 76 GTQ) it pulls very smooth.

Very good street turbo. The most critical aspect is the converter. It has to be dialed in to spool good. I run a PTC 10"3200 and its intant spool.
Contact Dusty Bradford for a PTC. He has the stall locked in for this turbo.

I actually just took this turbo off my car. I had the journal bearing version. I have a 3200 Precision TC. Once it got going it was great but on the street, I found it to spool to slow for me. I have a Typhoon that spools very fast so that is what I am used to.

Boost would really kick in 20psi+ just as it would shift into 2nd. On the track, it was fine.

The DBB is a night and day difference from the journal bearing. You needed more converter for that application. If you would have had a 3400-3600 stall you would have liked that turbo. I am firm believer in the BB turbos...they cost extra money but what doesnt on these cars? I figure if I am gonna do it once do it right.:) Of course my wife doesnt agree with that....:frown:

I've had mine on about 4 1/2 years and love it! The car is a street car and that turbo is super responsive at all rpm's. Paul

I'm loving my PT6776RHP with a PTE .63 A/R. I haven't been able to make it to the track yet, but will soon. I also will be changing my converter out to a 3200 stall Art Carr 9" that I have waiting to go in. The journal bearing version of this turbo needs a converter that will stall to 3400-3500 at zero psi to spool it quickly. The dbb version only needs 3200. My current converter is a 10" Coan L/U that will stall to 3000 at zero psi. It's a little too tight for my liking.
Just my O2's worth.

How does the PT 6776 DBB .63 compare to the Precision GT70 P trim .63 dual BB???

Honestly, I don't believe they have ever built a PT70 P-trim with dual ball bearings.
They have built plenty of PT70 GT-Q dual ball bearing turbos tho.

If a PT70 P-trim dual bb .63 A/R Buick turbo were to be built, the spool up should be very close to a 6776R dbb. My guess would be within 200-300 rpms max. This would mainly come from the 6776R having a small shaft P-trim turbine wheel, and the 70 P-trim using a large shaft P-trim turbine wheel, as well as having more weight with the compressor wheel being bigger than the 67.

You would have to speak to someone at PTE who knows exactly what has and what has not been built, which would be one of the turbo builders. And that doesn't normally happen very easily.

Patrick,

My first converter from PTC was a couple of hundred RPMS too tight and I was disappointed in the turbo. Dusty sent me a new one that was 3200 RPMS and it made a HUGE difference in spool and all around streetability. You havent fell in love with your turbo yet...wait till your converter comes in..then let us know how you like it.

I never really believed in a converter making or breaking a car until I put together this combo. I was always told how critical the stall speed was based on all of your engines components but I never really put to much faith in it. Now I understand completely. I was ready to take that 6776BB off the car because it wasnt doing what I thought it would and the whole time it was the converter. It sure is dialed in now. Still havent made it to the track because of a brand new baby boy, but my butt dyno tells me it is gonna fly. I can melt my ET Streets until I take my foot off the gas!

That is definitely good to hear.
I have been preaching about converter selection/matching for so long, I guess I need to follow my own advice and get crackin. My Art Carr converter has been staring at me every time I step foot in my garage. Looks like I'll be doing a converter swap next weekend and try to make it to the track soon there after.

What intercooler would work best with the 6776RH as far as fit and performance?
