PTC 9.5 nl

My question is does the 9.5 ptc actually measure 9.5" in total diameter or do they measure larger.

reason for asking is mine came in today and it measures 10.5". Is this right, do they all measure 10.5" outside diameter. Thanks

Good question! Just got mine yesterday as well. Measures 10.5"!

BTW, my orange stripe 12" I took out measures........guess what? 12"

usuallly when measured its across the cover not including mounting flanges

Outside diameter of the COVER. Already PM'd Dusty about it.

The mounting flange is 10" and has a #10 stamped on it. The actual converter is wider than the mounting flange.

OK, here are pics of mine. It IS stamped PTC 9.5 but figured it should measure 9.5" diameter or am I missing something here??? Always had a 12" converter so this is new to me.

Looks the same as my 9.5. And the part # is the same other than the 17. Mine is 18.

I think you are concearned over nothing here.
That is exactly the same converter I have with a diff stator #.

That is a 9.5 PTC non lockup convertor,The one everyone is changing to.
its what you need and its the right one.:biggrin:
My guess is they measure the stator or turbine to get their dimension.

You have the right converter. It's not always the very outside dimension that determines the size.

Thanks for clearing that up. Can't wait to get car back together. Snow is going to fly soon around here though.

Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a mixup on the size. Remember buying a rebuilt Chevy short block from my local parts store YEARS ago that was supposed to be a 327, turned out it was a 283, glad I checked it out before bolting on the heads.

All converters are stamped with the part # on the converter along with a serial #. If there's any doubt about it getting put in the wrong box or something, double check the part #'s on the converter to see if they match what's on the box.
