Thats a poor pic, doesn't coun't.:)

Very Nice. Its easy to go fast on that turbo!!!!

ME... Im stuck with the non ported shroud housing version of it which has a different compressor wheel all together. Of course this is because i run TSM at BG. Im now told that the billet comp wheel turbo could be had with a NON ported housing unlike before. That really irks me cause the billet wheel looks like it will make more power.

On another hand a birdy told me that the power difference in between the 2 may not be that sustancial.

Guy's,

Those 71 GTQ turbos are bad a$$. I spoke with Len Freeman who just put one on his stock block car. Not only did the car dyno at over 660H.P. at the wheels but he ran 9.86 with a crummy 1.5xx 60 ft time at over 139 M.P.H.

I'm about ready to scrap my Stage II motor and my old school Turbonetics 76 BB turbo. ;) Heck, I can't keep up with you stock block guys anymore!! The worst thing about it is that his turbo cost less than half of what mine did. :( Live and learn I guess.

Its not your fault the technology is just getting better. I knoiw what my car runs and i am doing no other change than the turbo. I will let you know the improvements if there is any in et, mph.

My GTQ71 doesn't have that inner circle in the comp housing. It does have the billet wheel and ported comp housing, but my inlet is 4" down to the 71mm wheel with no inner circle. Whats the difference between the two? And does anybody know how the .81 bolt housing will spool with this turbo?

hey louie---i run a 224/224 roller. i set it to shift at 6000 rpm. but this run it shifted at 5900 on the 1-2 and 5750 on the 2-3

Congrats Len

9's outta the box huh. Great pass just hoping for bigger and better things to come.

Well the fastest E.T. on that turbo to my knowledge is me with a 9.46 @ 141.3 MPH. That is at 26psi on my stage II motor and running 10.8:1 A/F 24 degrees advance.

There is more in this piece IMHO.

This piece as referred to from Dave Bamford is the "nine second turbo" and it makes gobs of power, and spools with ease.

I did run at 118.3 MPH in the 1/8th on that pass too. That works out to its rated flywheel HP. Dave has outdone that HP # with his run last year.

How much converter are you running with this turbo?

Layin' down the H.P.

Ted,

That combo you've got is really movin'!! What is the race weight of your car with driver etc? Also, do you have a transbrake in the TH400 to get those sub 1.40 60 ft times?

Thanks
Neal

Well the turbo is on, but the spool up i am a bit dissapointed, it takes alot to spool, maybe since my motor is using only 231 ci it makes a big difference, my stall is about 2800 rpm at
0 boost. Time to take the .81 off i guess and put on the .68 as i thought i would need on this motor. Maybe at the track it will be different?

I have not weighed the car. It is a 85 GN T-top car minus heat/ac, 10pt moly cage glass bumpers and hood. I would imagine it would weigh in for TSM/TSO, unfortunatly it is a ladder bar rear suspension with a 9" Ford and is not allowed to compete or I would be in TSM with the stock block motor.

I do have a transbrake.

Norbs, your stall aint gonna cut it. I did use that covertor/turbo combo with my stock block motor and I really think it has more to do with the Q trim wheel vs P-trim as my 76 P trim 4 bolt spooled about the same. The extra cubed definatly make a difference with the new motor. You need to get that thing spinning up before you stage. You will need more stall. I don't think the smaller housing will help that much, you'll sacrifice HP.

Ted,

Thanks for the info. Nice pics too. Good Luck at Bowling Green.
