I forgot to mention its a 4 bolt turbo, not three. The 9s sec car looks like it has a 3 bolt?

Ted,

What intake is that on the stage2 motor? Looks like a nice piece. That precision converter for the turbo 400 a lock up? Good luck at Bowling Green.

Convertor is not a lock up. Yes it is a 3 bolt turbo and was on the stock block motor. The intake is a extensively reworked CAS sheet metal intake. It took quite a bit of work to get it to even work on that motor. Word to the wise when buying one of these peices.

See you guys at BG. I'm going to try and bolt up my 76 Q trim (not a GTQ) and see what is faster.

Let us know the results!(Thank you).........i have the 76gtq and would be very interested in the comparison.:)

The .68 housing is on , the .81 was not very streetable at all. The .68 makes it feel more torque for sure. These guys using this turbo must all have t brakes and higher stalls for this to work or bigger than 231. I wont know till the track how it goes.

I know that the converter that spooled the crap out of my TE 45 did not spool up very well with the GTQ wheel and .81 housing. The converter i have now is of unknown stall , It a ATI unit but it was too loose on the top.It will spool this turbo in a eye blink. It has been tightened on the top end. So ill see how it works at BG.

I have a feeling that a 4 bolt is alot more flow than a 3 bolt, the .68 4 bolt will outflow the .81 3 bolt. But i have no way to test this unless you do some back to back test.

maybe you should just get one for the sound!

I need to post some pics of mine... I had the Compressor housing polished. This turbo spools like a bat out of hell, i've actually been running into some problems where the wastegate hasent been opening fast enough. I'm going to the innovative setup soon so I'm hoping that will solve the problem.

Its around 1400 with the 4 bolt setup.

Thanks norbs, I figured about that. I am going to the track in 2 weeks see how my Buick wioll run. Long time no talk, hope everything is ok with ya.

Ralph

Ralph you know where i am sometimes, usually around 10 pm. I am still doing ok, going to race this soon, still hoping for 9s!

Norbs:

Only made 1 run at 26psi and that was 9.52@140.3. I broke 6 gears on the ring gear that pass. Time for a pro-gear.

100% humidity and 85 degrees.

6.034 1/8th at 114. 1.33 60'

I think this turbo is only good for 9.5x at hot temps in the 140-141 and high 9.3x at 143 in colder temps. This is 3 bolt I am talking about.
