It's part of the mechanism for the T.V. exhaust check ball. It's there to prevent the transmission from being damaged from low line pressure in case the T.V. cable becomes disconnected or broken. If the cable breaks the check ball will seat and fix the line pressure at about 140 lbs. to keep the clutches from burning. Is the transmission operating normally? If so then maybe the check ball has been removed so it's not really an issue. If you are having shifting issues ...abnormally firm shifts...then maybe the check ball is still in place and you will need to put those parts back in or remove the check ball.
I just put it back. Thanks for the help guys. I put in a ck performance vb in november, must not have gotten in back in correctly. Good thing I needed to pull the pan to put a hardened stator support in.
