Putting a cage in my car. Should i run a: rubber b: poly graphite,c: uerathane, or solid aluminum bushings?

you putting a 8-10 pt "cage" in or just a roll bar (5-6 points)?

a bar stiffens things up some...a cage, a lot more......but if you need a cage, you prolly need solid or poly bushings

I have a bar and poly bushings and it is plenty stiff (not real comfortible on the street)

I would use regular rubber top and bottoms. I have a full cage in my '86 pontiac 2+2 and used rubber bushings and its very stiff. I can't imagine how noisy it would be with anything stiffer. Handling is great though :)

looking to put a 6 point in. need enough to run 1.38 60 foot.

who makes the solids?

hockey pucks work well........we put 'em in the race car

(if you're gonna run 1.38's, may as well put the 10 pt in...you'll need it!:D )

This is how I do them

When I put a cage in a G-Body, I box the frame rails where the cage attaches, use aluminum solid bushings, weld plates to the floorboard and weld the tubing to the plates in the floorboard and the frame. If you use rubber or polyurethane bushings, I'd suggest you leave 1/8" around the tubes where they pass through the floorboards and fill the gap with silicone. I make my own aluminum bushings by getting aluminum bar stock and drilling it, then cutting it into bushings the thickness I need. I'm sure not everyone is going to agree with the way I do it, but I build cars for Division 2 and they tech hard here in the southeastern doorslammer conference. My cars always certify, and they are solid.

I run the urethane bushings in my T, with the cage(6 pt bar), bushings and urethane motor mounts It has become way less comfortable to drive.

I left an 1/8 in gap around the floorpan as well, but I used flexible seam sealer to seel the holes. Works well, never cracks, and adhears to the sheet metal well.

on a G body, the cage/bar must be welded to the frame.....our frame being what it is, needs some reinforcement at the weld points
