my transmission was built last year and since then my third gear shift has softened up considerably at full throttle. at part throttle it will almost chirp the tires, but at full it's like the tranny slides in gear. when i first start the car up and let it warm up the first couple third gear shifts are hard, then they kinda soften up. is this something i need to get checked out before i buy a 9 inch converter? i really don't need to be worrying about a tranny right now. what would cause this and is it an easy way to get my firm third gear back.
the one thing i haven't done since having it built is have the fluid changed yet. i'm going to have that done when i get back from north carolina this weekend. the tranny has about 6k miles on it since the rebuild. is that to many miles on it before a fluid change? will the fluid change help the third gear shift?
oh, no the fluid isn't burnt nor does it smell burnt. it's fine. i kinda had a feeling i would be asked that.
