i repainted my hood with base coat, clear coat and didnt look all that bad.had some orange peel and some dirt so i was told to wet sand with 2000 and buff.well i did and now i have some shiny spots and the rest looks like 50 year old paint.is there anything else to do? i used a quart of black and a quart of clear.

1 quart of base and 1 quart of clear only put 2 coats of base and 2 of clear.

Forget the 2000 grit. Get some 1000 grit and rap it around a paintstick and watersand until the paints flat and buff out. Sounds like you didn't buff it out enough.

Sounds like you are done sanding. Just give it some more buffing. Be aggresive with the compound, don't be affraid to use too much.
FYI, at my shop, we never go under 2000 grit for final sanding. You can use 1000 like Red Regal T said, but it's best to go back over it with 2000 again.
