Ive searched and read, but i still dont get the whole 'stall' thing, I know it lets your engine rev higher before the trans grabs, but wont this affect dailys street driving?

I'm getting another gn soon (last one had the stock stall/torque converter).

Im wondering, whats the highest stall I can go for, but still be 100% streetable. Im wanting a bigger turbo, but i dont want to hinder streetablilty.

Whats the best set-up? And heres the things im looking for:

- Quick Spool Up
- Very Street-able
- Low 11s High 10s Capable (Dont want to switch out turbos)
- Somewhat Reliable
- Most Powerfull & Quick Spooling
Ive heard about a few combos, heres a few:

- TE60 & 3200 Stall
- TA49 & 2800 Stall
- T63E & 3000 Stall

Are these combos worth a crap?

Not sure, Ive always been into Manuals, Not autos.

Thanks
- Cody

I've got a 3600 stall 9-11 with a PT-61 turbo and it's a really nice combination of things. It definitely doesn't spool as quick as stock, but once it gets going it works pretty well.

It's perfectly fine 'round town and on the highway. Not sure I'd drive it daily, but it's pretty docile until you jump on it.

3200 stall Vigilante multi-disk lockup and a Cottons Turbonetics ball bearing 66 turbo would be streetable. :)

I've got a 6131E that should spool great with a 3000 stall convertor. I've got a 2700 stall now, and can still pull 1.66 60' with it, but 3k stall would be perfect and will definitely run low 11's. As far as streetability, the only time I notice the higher stall is like trying to start from a stop and go over a speed bump or something.

I was worried about putting in a 3500 stall, but you really don't notice the difference unless you get a low quality converter. Don't skimp on the converter. Driving around town I can't hardly tell the difference between the stock d5 and my AC3500. Backing out of a parking spot I have to give it a little bit more gas, but thats about it. On the highway my rpms run about 200 rpm higher than they did with the stock d5. Don't be afraid of the streetability of a good quality high stall converter.

Where are youat? Find someone with a higher stall converter turbo and take a ride.

Got mine back up and running for now anyway. Put a larger than I need converter in but it will leave me lots of room to grow. Realy enjoying driving it now in the cold weather.
