I just got a new wireless keyboard and mouse.

Seems to work great, but I'm wondering where is the best location for the receiver??? Up high? Down low?

Thanks for the advice.

It really doesn't matter where you place, I guess it's just personal preference. If the receiver looks cool I would put it up high next to the monitor, but if you are in need of computer desk space I would set it down on top of the computer tower. Just make sure you have a set of spare batteries for the keyboard and mouse, you don't want to be midway in an email reply and have your keyboard and mouse die on you

I got a Logitech keyboard/mouse a few months ago. At the time I had a fairly open desk and the receiver worked fine, even when it had fallen to the floor. Now, I have a more enclosed desk, with the tower, DSL modem, USB hub, external CD/RW drive all crammed in right there with each other--with the receiver on top. It doesn't seem to pick up quite as well, not battery related. I guess it's the interferance from other pieces, and being enclosed. If yours is in the open, it'll work from almost 10' away (mine used to). If it's enclosed and tight, might find a way to seperate it from other stuff, but I don't think high/low would be a factor. I plan to move mine out a little.

Yes, I have a Logitech and the range does seem to be pretty good. But like you said there seems to be interference with the other components. I might figure out a way to move it further way. How long do these batteries tend to last anyways?

Thanks for the reply.

it all depend on how much you use them. the more you do the quicker they go

The original ones are still in the keyboard, it's been about 4 mos. The mouse batteries started tripping the low battery "check engine" light about a month ago. I let it go about 2 weeks before changing them (still worked fine).

Do you get an error about the iTouch keyboard when you boot up? It's just functions for the extra buttons on the keyboard that I don't use, but it bugs me that it doesn't work right, even updated. Could just be that my computer's in need of the Big Sweep again. Other than that, I really like the setup. Nice to eliminate the 2 most annoying wires.

Nope.. no error messages so far. I'm trying to figure out how to program a few of my buttons, but I'm sure I'll get that in time. Otherwise, looks like it works fine.

I can see there'd be a lot of interference and electrical fields in here... This is my home computer and I have a lot of 'stuff' set up over here.

Thanks again for the info and advice. I just went out and bought GOOD batteries so I'll see how it does.
