I am thinking of buying a car with a 700r4 slipping/no reverse and was wondering what it would cost to get it rebuilt or rebuild it myself. No performance parts... just a simple rebuild to get it running.

What about that tranny place in Ocala FL. Victory transmisions??

Any input is great.

TIA
Bo

Victory is out of buisness...However

It should run from 900 for a bone stocker plus hard parts to 3K depending on hp level. I would say a good trans with converter for a daily driver should run about $1500.00.

What about a 2004R? 700hp

Mine ironicly started a flare on the 1-2.... First time I locked the converter at the track for two runs and now a flare.

Is Victory transmition open for buiseness?

thanks
Bo

With a heavy heart..

They had a fire. All was destroyed. I am not sure but I think someone was even hurt in the fire. Someone with more info than I might want to step up.
My heart goes out to the family and patrons of Victory Trans.
All of Tb.com felt the hit.

I'm expecting to drop 6-8 bills for hard parts for my setup, but then again I also am doing a mild-moderate performance buildup. If you get it, I'd get a shift kit installed (the full Transgo No-Yo-Yo one), a 13 vane pump and hardened rings as well as the basic reubild kit, the corvette servos usually are a pretty cheap price too and worthwhile. Even stock HP levels will benifit from these mods, at the very least get the Transgo kit and a basic rebuild. Probably $50 (I got my kit NIB from a guy for $30) for the shift kit, $15-20 for the pump rings, another 35-40 for the pump, another $30-40 for the corvette servo. The basic rebuild kit's probably about 2 or 3 bills, excluding your TC. With those mods you'll have a tranny that'll last for years, provided it's properly assembled. The "properly assembled" part can be more then a little bit of a hitch, be sure you find a good place to do it. If you've got the skills, do it yourself. You'll probably be a lot more meticulous then someone you pay would be.
