Anyone here run the standard issue hose clamps, instead of those high strength jobs? Is there some sort of way to put our hoses on, and have them stay put? Clean the **** out of it with lacquer thinner, then apply them with hairspray maybe? Anyone?

I've always used standard clamps...my stock hoses used to blow off all the time because they were too short...make sure the hoses are long enough and that the ends of the intercooler pipes have a raised edge...if the edge of the pipe is flat it's difficult to keep them on under high boost...pic of my motor...all standard clamps...have run up to 27 PSI boost so far...

I have never had an issue with a hose blowing off, but I don't run high boost.....yet. Would it work if you cleaned the surfaces really well and put just a little 3M weather stripping adhesive on them. That yellow monkey snot holds great and I have used it for valve cover gaskets for years.

Any thoughts on that idea?

The only problem I see with using some sort of adhesive is getting them off...might end up having to cut them off and those step down/up hoses ain't cheap...

I've heard of people using hairspray to make them tacky, no personal experience with it though. Sorry. What's wrong with the high strength jobs?

still running the stock clamps
upgraded the hoses though.

no hoses popped off since they were upgraded.
on the other hand.... haven't ran over 20# boost.

The high strength jobs are nice, but, in my opinion, are a pain in the ass. They're bulky as well, and I hate an inch long bolt just stickin out in the middle of nowhere. Plus, I like black better. Wanted to see if anyone here still ran 'em with success.
